Melbournian’s love food, Facebookers and Instagrammers alike are more and more often taking pictures on their mobile phones and uploading them to social media to their networks. Customers are picking their choice of food destinations based on what is popping up on their feeds and bloggers are become more and more of an influence in the food industry.
In this day and age it is imperative to not only have good photography of your food, but also having the right people with a local influence showing off your menu.
Food PR and ongoing social media should be an essential part of any restaurant or cafe that wants to see growth. The exposure is uncanning and one of our clients has seen over 2,000 extra customers consistently per week after a 12-month campaign.
Having been working in the food industry for a number of years, we have been fortunate enough to both run and attend quite a few Food PR events across Melbourne. Going to such events has given us the list of all lists, we know who to invite and what to expect from every guest, we know how many followers they have and how much of an influence each person has, in fact; we could have an intimate seating with only 10 guests and still be able to reach 400,000 people.
So, what makes us different? We are an online marketing company not a PR company. We know marketing for restaurant and we run over 40 social media accounts for restaurants and cafes which includes both Facebook marketing and Instagram marketing.
Let’s look at the general scope of facebook:
- 90% of internet users have Facebook.
- 20% of every persons day is spent on facebook.
- 65% of users interact with food-related content.
- Facebook allows you to get closer to your customers, learn about their needs and please them with images of what they want to see.
- Knowing your target audience allows you to target them specifically.
- Cost per engagement can be as little as $0.01.
- Brand Awareness – The most important of all, the more users are seeing your brand constantly, the more likely they are going to commit to visiting your establishment.
As instagram grows, so do the quality of pictures coming up on the feed. Instagram is becoming more and more professional and the with the use of Wifi cameras and Wifi SD cards, taking a picture on a DSLR camera can instantly be uploaded to an instagram feed to over 100,000 followers.
Instagrammers are now calling themselves bloggers, they take pictures of food and post on their feed, a lot of the time without even a story – just a location is sometimes enough to influence their fans. If done by the right people this can be very beneficial and a great food PR exercise. Numbers can be deceiving though, cafe/restaurant owners need to be wary of those trying to get free food by showing their instagram number without knowing if their followers are local (can turn into a customer).
As part of our management, we ensure you do not waste valuable resources on fakers. We interact with real people with real LOCAL MELBOURNE followers. We run competitions and collaborate with instagrammers that are actually beneficial to your business, we want it to be a win win for both parties which real bloggers understand.
